HS COMPETITION CONCERT Rules Groups perform for up to 8 min. each. Trophies will be awarded at end of concert: Group, Soloist, Beatboxing, Arranging, Original Composition and more! The Single Singers (an open a cappella group) will perform while judges deliberate! Top groups offered chance to open Pro Concerts: SAT 7PM, and SAT 9:30PM; and SUN 2PM . This is an opportunity to open for amazing professionals, but it is not mandatory. If a group cannot accept the honor, the producers may invite a different group to take their spot. Groups often want to watch other groups. We typically allow this based on available space in the theatre and the need to line up backstage to perform. The producer or HS Coordinator will announce show order at soundcheck. We often line up 3-4 groups in advance backstage. Hence the first 3 or 4 groups will usually begin the show backstage. Other groups will rotate in to take their place after each group performs. The show emcee SHOULD announce from stage when groups that may be viewing the show from the audience need to leave line-up backstage. However, it is YOUR responsibility to be backstage and ready to perform on time. Following the Single Singers performance, groups will gather on stage for awards. This will be announced from stage by emcee. In some years, to manage space, we may ask that only the musical director, soloists, arrangers and composers go on stage to accept awards. However, where just a few members would be "left out" by this process we may ask the entire grip to be present on stage. When 1st, 2nd or 3rd Place are awarded, all members of the group may pose for pictures together. on stage, if it is safe to do so. After awards, the DIRECTORS of the top 3 groups will choose which of the 3 pro shows they will open for and each director will communicate this to the HS Coordinator. First choice is granted to 1st place, 2nd to 2nd, 3rd to 3rd, etc. Sometimes a group is unable to attend. Producers may offer the position to a different group. |

SOUNDCHECKS
All groups will be shown the mic set-up and told which mics are appropriate for bass, vocal percussion, leads, duets, etc. These will be WIRELESS MICS.
Each CONFIRMED group will make mic requests within the HS Competition INFORMATION FORM . Those requests which are approved by our engineer will be available for the HS Competition Finals.
While performing on sound systems is a challenge, it is also a fantastic educational experience that helps prepare young singers for real-world performances. Our sound engineers are highly experienced at mixing a cappella groups, our sound system is first rate, and your judges are instructed to focus on the group's performance, not the sound engineer's performance.
