Please follow the Adelphi Dance Studio Rules:
1. NO SHOES ALLOWED
Entering the spaces with your shoes on tracks in dirt and oils that can harm the floor. That is why you must take your shoes off before you enter the studio. Line them up neatly outside the door. There may be a shoe rack outside your studio. Feel free to use it to store your shoes. Shoes can cause a fire hazard so placing them on the rack keeps them clear of the pathway one would take when exiting the space during an emergency.
2. NO FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED
Food crumbs and drink spills damage the floor because they trap dirt into the floor. They also affect how they are cleaned, when they are cleaned. Crumbs can cause tears in the floor. Oils and liquids can ruin the built-in treatments of the floor that make the dance floor perfect for dancers.
3. PERSONAL HYGIENE PRODUCTS CAN ACTUALLY HURT THE FLOOR
We are not suggesting you stop showering or using any personal care items. However, consider this: The lotions on your hands, the haircare products in your hair, the soap on your hands or even the detergents used on your clothes ALL affect the floor with prolonged contact. The dance floors are both tough and very fragile. They are really designed for dancing only. So, do not leave clothing on the floor. Do not lay on the floor and transfer the lotions, oils, haircare products, etc. to it.
4. DO NOT STRIKE THE FLOORS
You may use props as a part of your rehearsal(s)/performance(s) but you must not strike the floor with them. For example, using canes is allowed if, and only if, the bottom is covered with rubber or other soft material. Striking the floor with anything hard can cause the floor to scratch or tear.
