MEET & GREET over LUNCH! [THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL SingStrong EVENT. NO TICKETS ARE REQUIRED] This lunch is an optional, fun meet-up for the anyone at SingStrong including members of the Single Singers! Wear your SingStrong T-shirts, sweatshirts and other merchandise so newbies can find you and introduce themselves! <Food and drink are not included in SingStrong passes or tickets. Bring cash or credit!> The Single Singers is an a cappella group open to any singer at any level who is willing to learn the material on his or her own, prior to coming to SingStrong, and willing to perform on stage after just one day together! We won’t have much time to plunk notes so make sure you know your part! (You’ll also need a weekend pass or class pass to participate.) ACA-Idol is a fast-paced competition with big money at stake! Groups perform for 10 minutes. A panel of judges gives live feedback. And as a bonus, Blue Jupiter performs too! You, the audience vote by cel phone to decide which group -College or Semi-Pro- wins $1,000! (Rules here). Competitors each give their best 10 minutes. Bid at the Silent Auction too! Competors will all compete for your love and votes in this show! Food, drink and song! A meet and greet for adult SingStrong groups, singers and attendees! After concerts we all like to grab some food and drink. Many of us will head HERE. This is an awesome party, but it isn’t for everyone. This event is not supervised by SingStrong Inc, Adelphi University, or any other person or entity. This is not an official SingStrong event. No credit is offered at the HS or college for attendance. No fee is charged for attendance. This is simply the spot where some performers and adult summit attendees will be relaxing after the show. HS Competition Registration and ORIENTATION
HS Competitors arrive and get settled, warm-up and ready to show the judges what they’ve got! All competing HS groups should attend the orientation. You will need the information we give you there. If you cannot attend you will still be allowed to compete but you will be at a disadvantage. PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU WILL BE LATE OR ABSENT FOR THIS. Soundcheck will follow. Note that soundcheck are generally open for other (quiet) competitors to view. It’s a great learning experience! Once a group has completed their own sound-check, their members may stay or are free to attend classes, Spotlight Showcases, their group’s coaching and more. Singing Without a Safety Net w/ The Swingles
We all have music inside us – some of us just have a hard time getting it out. In this workshop, suitable for any age or level of experience, we banish inhibitions and use the tools we all possess to create music in the moment. Beginning with some fun warm-ups, and progressing through improvisation games and listening exercises, participants will soon find themselves composing musical masterpieces on the fly. INTRO TO OVERTONE SINGING WITH Harmonic Introductions
Overtone Singing is a technique that enables one vocalist to produce and, with a bit of practice, control two notes simultaneously. Overtone singing can be used in various contexts, from emulating synthesized sounds to full self-polyphony. When multiple voices come together to sing in this style, a relaxing, glowing atmosphere is created. Overtones are always perfectly in tune. This workshop will explain the theory behind overtone singing and teach the basic techniques of producing them. Harmonic Introductions is a community vocal ensemble dedicated to expanding the awareness, appreciation, and understanding of polyphonic overtone singing. SINGING WITH SWAGGER WITH THE SWINGLES -FOR SOLOS & GROUPS
As a soloist, regardless of what type of song you’re singing, it’s important to be the most confident person in the room. All eyes are on you and it’s your job to control the audience and take us on a journey with whatever message you’re trying to deliver. Even when delivering a sad, emotional solo you must be confident enough to be completely vulnerable and let those emotions come through. This class, led by Jon Smith will mainly be focused on solo singing and it will be 75% participation. Participants will get up and sing for the class and we will discuss what we heard and saw from them. We will discuss posture, facial expressions, the arc of a song, etc. By the end of this class you will learn how to take the stage and command audiences through authentic emotional expression and how to do it with swagger. #hs #college #pro #class |

Leadership and Branding are often interconnected and understanding this dynamic can enhance a group's morale and progress. Whether it's a HS group or professional one, everyone wants their group to achieve whatever their definition of "success" might be.
